Kathmandu: Gagan Kumar Thapa, the general secretary of Nepali Congress (NC), has emphasized the need to correct and transform the party for the betterment of the country. Speaking at the first Kathmandu Conference organized by the NC Dolakha-Kathmandu Liaison Committee, Thapa expressed his commitment to rectifying his party.

Thapa acknowledged that established political parties have faced crises due to the repetitive nomination of individuals for the position of prime minister. He argued that in a democracy, it is uncommon for a country to repeatedly elect the same individual as the prime minister. He believed that people are seeking freshness and a change from this trend.

During the conference, Thapa announced his willingness to step down from his role as the party's general secretary in order to facilitate the transformation of NC. He called upon NC supporters to come together and join the campaign to reform the party, emphasizing that the country can only be transformed if the NC itself is corrected.
